I always have bare feet, and my husband, son, and daughter always wear socks.

Yes. Just wondering about people's preferences in the Chicago area.

I like barefeet, except on the coldest winter days. Then I wear house slippers.

I usually wear socks. Occasionally will go barefoot. Only time I wear shoes in the house is if I forgot something and just want to grab it quickly.

Preference are mixed. I wear shoes in the house, after wiping my feet on a mat by the door. Most of the shoes I wear in the house I only wear inside my house. I don't ask people to take their shoes off, I think its kind of rude to ask guest to remove their shoes. I was not raised that way. I have mostly hardwood floors and they are cleaned and swiffered constantly. I could see removing shoes for kids and stuff and when my son was little they all took their shoes off at the door. I can't go barefoot I have too much arthritis in my feet. You have to remember I grew up in the fifties and customs were different then. I never saw my grandparents (or parents for that matter) barefoot. They never went barefoot they always had shoes on, and socks, or nylon stockings. It was considered kind of rude to show your toes. If you were barefoot they would want to know where your shoes were. People just did not go barefoot. I realize times have changed so if people want to take their shoes off, fine. Germs are everywhere and cover everything and I've lived a long time and never have gotten sick so I don't think its a big deal. I've read the articles about what gets tracked in a house but I don't care.

I never wear shoes inside and we do ask guests to take off outside shoes. This is how we do it where I'm from. First time I came to the USA I noticed peopled kept their shoes on inside. It was shocking to me at the time.lol

Inside I like being barefoot.

I remove my shoes in the house and walk around in socks or house shoes (what kind of a tool calls them slippers?) in the winter.

We don't wear shoes in the house, I switch between socks and bare feet depending on time of year...sometimes slippers. I also don't like wearing shoes in other people's houses...it's just a thing for me. No bare feet in winter, I would be too cold.
