I'm very glad I don't know you, and happy that I have spent most of my life on the south side of Chicago. Yes, I've even been to the west side numerous times, and was very pleased and guess what!!!! I didn't get robbed, shot, harassed, or anything else. Like I've mentioned before I am the owner of a nice late model car, and never has it been broken into, stolen or vandalized.
I have had a very happy childhood living in Chicagoland. Beverly, Morgan Park, Washington Heights, etc. are all great places to live south of Hyde Park. How can we forget Mount Greenwood, Chatham, and parts of West Chesterfield.
I hope you can find that happiness sometime in your life. You are spouting nothing but hate, and that kind of talk is not welcomed on C-D, at least as far as I am concerned.

LMAO HAHAAHAHAH!!!Why do you all want me banned??? Im just being honest, as you all should be with yourselves!! The southside and westside is PURE bull****!!I mean there are some spots that are liveable, but that really depends on who you ask. Now I can understand where you are coming from you have lived on the southside your ENTIRE LIFE, so therefore you dont know that there is something better out there and you have grown comfortable.....but dont lie to yourself just to defend your poor decision making....you can always leave. If you moved to the northside or downtown area you will realize why I say what I say.The southside offers nothing in terms of diversity, nightlife, day life, culture, activities, events, anything extracurricular. Everybody stays in there house to dodge the crime. Black people from Chicago are not the friendliest or the biggest teamplayers and Im black (btw) so I know, Chicago blacks create all kinds of ridiculous divisions (west side vs southside, buppies vs. ghetto, light vs dark, suburbs vs city, gang vs gang, etc) therefore its impossible to get a solid community like say in Atlanta or in New York. The youth on the southside and westside are more violent than EVER!! So go ahead continue with your fake proper, pretentious, educated "whitebred" act but I see through you because southside neighborhoods do not develop those types of personalties. LMAO. You are a fraud!

I shake my head at your ignorance.
You do not deserve the dignity of a response. I'm actually really sorry I ever saw your post. I feel for you, I really do.

Wow you are serious..... You can stick with your negative comments about the southside and if you don't like it then thats your opinion stick to whatever part of town you reside thats on you, it is what it is, but quit bashing a part of town where someone else has to live. By the way Ive lived on all three sides of town and Im not even a native to Chicago. You say the southside has no culture or activities.... Have you not heard of the Bud Billikan Parade, or the Dusable Museum, or Washington Park, need I go on???? Oh yeah and Garfield Park on the Westside. Theres so much culture on the southside you cant miss it. Go to 63rd Street Beach in the summer and see drummers in the park or check out the African American Festival in Washington Park... Go to numerous Southside nightclubs and you can learn the Southside version to ballroom dancing (a national phenomenon) Stepping.
Stop by a southside favorite "Harold's Chicken" for some real fried chicken... Theres so much on the southside that I can name that is classic southside that you can't find on the northside or outside of Chicago city limits for that matter. I see people out and about all the time all over the southside and Ive lived in Englewood, South Shore, Bronzeville, and the hundreds... Theres just as much diversity on the southside as there is on the northside (think about it....dont believe me...check the demographics) Quit bringing up the negatives... crime is everywhere, you acting like all we know is gangbangin.... South Chicago is home to me and it has just as much community pride as Atlanta and New York (I lived in Atlanta too so I would know)..... From one black man to another stop with the southside bashin ... please!!!! You hurtin yourself.....

You can find Harold's Chickhen outside Chicago city limits now. They just built Harold on 147th & Dixie Hwy several months ago. I think the southside has some charm as well. From Beverly Hills to Hyde Park, there is nice areas on the southside too

Didn't notice anything too business like about the area, especially concerning black folks coming in from Bronzeville. Black folks conducting any business there was about as likely as someone from Lincoln Park conducting business in Garfield. I guess things have changed though. You'll know you're in the heart of Bridgeport when you're in the quiet more residential streets with green grass and it's dotted with little old Irish churches and cathedrals. You'll hardly believe you're on the south side, I can't remember the street cordinants though. No black folks there though I can assure you. But obviously it's alot better now than it was back then. I remember when my parents finally saved up enough money to move from the south side to the "ritzy and affluent" north side... right around the corner from Cabrini in Old Town back in '97. Yeah, yikes, even then that area was like "ooo and aaa" compared to Bridgeport back in 90's. Interesting memories in Bridgeport though.

Bridgeport is neither majority Irish or white anymore. It was at 41% white back in 2000. Its consider one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Chicago. It sill has a very low black population, but high Asian and Hispanic presence.

yeah, that's pretty astounding anyone could be that off-base. there isn't a single neighborhood in Chicago (and I'm not sure there has been for over 100 years) that is majority Irish. Ireland just wasn't that big to be sending a non-stop stream of people here, even back in the day.
Germany otoh...

There also aren't that many people who are 100% Irish anymore.
