Hello, everyone!
I understand that Albertson's Companies LLC owns a whole lot of supermarket chains in the US (Albertsons, Acme, Bristol Farms, Grocery Warehouse, Jewel, Jewel-Osco, Max Foods, Osco Drug, Safeway, Sav-on Drugs, Shaw's, Star Market and Super Saver). Now, I have tried searching for this on the Albertson's website, WIKI, and other platforms, and I don't see anything, so I figured that maybe someone from Chicago who happens to know (or has heard about it) might help: does anyone here know if an ACME employee from say, New York or Pennsylvania, could transfer to a Jewel-Osco in Chicago through the [parent] company? What I mean is whether it's something that the parent company itself has no problem with and does without problem.

I know that this might sound like a duh! question, but you never know with these matters.

I could ask at the ACME store, but I still don't work there, and I don't wanna ask them now or shortly after I get the job because I don't want to be dismissed as a potential employee if the management feels that I am going to apply just to be transferred shortly after.

By the way, that is not what I want, but it's good to know that, in the future, if you had to move, the possibility of a transfer is something you can count on (as opposed to look for a job again).

I jope you all understand what I mean.
I am the kind of guy that works with pride and gives his all regardless of what he does for a living; I don't care if it's a minimum wage retail position or a six-figure profession.
I work with passion, and I hope that, if I get this job, the possibility of me moving in the future does not mean I will lose it.

Anyway, thanks [in advance] for your help!

There have been numerous changes in the ownership of the Jewel Grocery chain -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewel_(supermarket)#Today . It is currently true that things are again under Albertsons, but given the ownership of many of the parts by "private equity firms" that largely keep each "operating company" somewhat separate to facilitate individual mergers and further acquisitions it is not a sure bet that there is any sort of "job portability" or transfer program...

Jewel is very much a "union shop" and though wages are good, the various work rules make it things more complicated from an HR side -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...ercial_Workers

To somewhat echo Chett. I think the fact that Jewel employees operate under the United Food and Commercial Workers union, you're going to need to actually apply. That isn't to say that your existing grocery chain won't put in a good word with the Jewel you need to transfer to but I wouldn't count on just transferring over. The union is going to make it hard to get any sort of transfer given that you'd likely need to join the union and go through the same process all applicants go through to get hired.
