If you are planning an renting a car for the entire time, I hope you are prepared for how much you will need to pay for parking. It is expensive in the city, and usually isn't included in the price of the hotel.

As others have said, the L-train is probably the way to go. Depending on where your hotel is, you might even be able to rely on it to get you to/from the airport. The orange line runs between Midway and the loop, and it's really not that bad. If you have lots of luggage, a taxi or Uber might be worth the cost in that situation though.

As far as stuff to do, I second the boat ride idea. Another idea either in addition to or instead of that would be to take a tour on one of the trolleys or double decker busses that drive around. It's a good way to learn interesting stuff about the city and to get ideas for stuff that you might want to check out.

I'm a native Milwaukeean who's lived in Chicago for about 15 years. My advice: There's an Amtrak train that goes from Milwaukee to Chicago. It's only an hour and a half long trip and costs $25 each way. It will drop you off in downtown Milwaukee a couple of miles from Miller Park. You can hail a cab or uber from the station.

Yeah a car is what's making this a huge pain in the butt.

You can take trains very easily for a few $$ from either O'hare or Midway into downtown and back. Just stay downtown. The red line is right there and it's a 20 minute ride up to Wrigley (directly adjacent to the stadium). The Red Line takes you directly to see the White Sox play.

Amtrak runs from downtown right to Milwaukee (cool little area of the city) and you can very easily get to the Brewers from there (8 minute uber).

Driving around, especially at rush hour, getting the car and dropping it off at the airports (off site), getting to and from Milwaukee with traffic, trying to park around Wrigley (I wouldn't, I live a block away and it's a HUUUUUGE pain). Trains run at all hours, if you're between 5am and midnight they run every 5 minutes or so. Amtrak every few hours, it's a 90 minute trip, same as driving.

Can anybody tell me about the area community called Pilsen?

Found an airbnb. It has private parking so it's appealing.

We have a popular Airbnb in Bridgeport that would be ideal. Walk to Sox Park and walk to the Orange Line and then 1 stop to the Red Line which will take you to Wrigley. We offer free parking both on the street and private lot alley access.

Stub hub offers a 383 street parking pass. Is it any good? What does it mean?

Basically, it means you can park on the residential streets immediatley surrounding Wrigley Field during the game without getting ticketed or towed.

I believe street parking is already free for day games (zone 383 has overnight restrictions, 6 p.m.-6 a.m.), but the area surrounding the park is a tow zone for night games unless you have a 383 permit. So it may be handy if you're going to a night game. However, know that having a permit does not guarantee you a spot. It can be tough finding a decent spot even when the Cubs aren't in town. If you're driving, it may be a better bet to look for something west of Ashland (not permit parking) and walk the six or seven blocks to the park.

This is mostly good advice. 383 restrictions described above are accurate - you can park free til 6 pm.

Is this a weekday or weekend game? If weekday, it's possible to find a spot east of Southport on the street if it's a day game. If you get lucky you can do the same for a weekend day game if a resident just happens to leave as you're pulling up. When I lived in the area and tried to sell a my alley spot for day games, I'd see people approach us to a buy a spot while a street spot was available right in front of them. At night it's possible to find a spot between Southport and Ashland most of the time.

If you don't feel like paying for parking at all, you can park on Grace near Trader Joe's just east of Lincoln. It's like a 15 minute walk but it's free - just check the signs/curb to ensure you're not in things like a fire hydrant, handicapped zone, etc.

That all being said, if you're renting a car, parking on the street may not be the best option as not everyone is that good at parallel parking.
