I don't know, I'd say that River North, South Loop and West Loop are pretty legit, even if the latter two are recent developer-created names. Those "developer-created" neighborhoods have undergone such a thorough transformation and have substantially lived up to the promises the developers made about them, so I have no problem referring to them by their developer-given names. Also, West Loop didn't completely supplant Greektown -- the Greek-façade portion of it is still referred to as Greektown.
