I'm pretty sure it's technically the name of the neighborhood, but like I said, you never hear anyone say it. Which I really think is inevitable, Lakewood-Balmoral is a strictly residential area and I think neighborhood identifications tend to gravitate towards where the commerce is. Considering that, its no surprise that many people think of it as Andersonville, and quite reasonable, in my opinion.

great thread!
I'd like to read about Loop, Near North & River North since that's the area i'll most likely be living in.

Default Chicago Neighborhood Map

Ive seen a lot of questions on this forum regarding neighborhood boundary lines. I dont know if this is posted anywhere else but here is a link that shows each of the 77 neighborhoods and their boundaries. I found it on the city website.

Thanks. A little fuzzy though...for instance, there are a lot of streets between Irving Park and Belmont.

This is precisely what has happened with Lincoln Square in terms peoples perception of its neighborhood boundaries although officially the city keeps it at where it was at 80 years ago.

yes, I am resurrecting this from the dead, because not only do realtors change neighborhood boundaries as they want to (did you know that Pensacola Place Apts are in Wrigleyville now?), but they apparently also change streets.

since when did Lawrence Ave. turn into Fullerton?? (let me know if the attachment works).

what ARE the boundaries of Lincoln Square anyway? someone I know lives in that hood and i don't want to accidentally run into them.

Hah. That's funny. Maybe it's just a clerical or technical error, though?
