First of all, during off-peak hours, driving within the legal speed limit is not necessarily safe. It's an excellent way to create a bottleneck and/or get mowed down.

Second, from Lake Cook Road to United Center... provided traffic is moving, count on 40 minutes or so.

Thanks for replying

I guess I was given an overestimate by someone who said that Lake cook road to United center was 60 or so miles apart and thus expected a longer driving time which had me a bit worried about my uncle who loves to drive inspite of having back spasm and a "safe" driver (never gotten a ticket in 40+ years of driving )

Judging by the 40 min. or so drive you say , that would make it just about 35 to 40 miles of driving distance right ? ?? He a retiree who is making deerfield his home soon and being a bulls fan he want to go to the games.
I guess if he leaves home 3pm he should avoid any traffic and just hang around united center until they open the gates to its patrons

Thank you

Well, rush hour traffic starts to build at about 3pm, especially inbound on the Kennedy since the express lanes are oriented outward in the afternoon. He will not avoid traffic entirely. If he leaves at 3pm, I'd add 15 minutes to the commute time.

And I wouldn't exactly "hang around" near the United Center, because that's what a lot of other people who live in the area do... and they're not necessarily the kind of people one would want to spend quality time hanging out with. If he wants to come in early to avoid traffic, he should find somewhere else to hang out.

About 25-30 miles I'd say, depending on which part of Deerfield.
