CTA/baseball season
I've been thinking about this lately, and I wonder what any of you think. I take the Addison bus to the Red Line from work - and i work pretty far west, basically between Pulaski and Cicero. Obviously, this turns into an enormous 2+ hour commuting nightmare when there are home games. Would it be a good idea for me to hike it 4+ blocks to Irving Park and catch the bus there, or walk about 3 south to Belmont, or just suck it up and continue to ride the Addison bus with its suburban Cub fans complaining about how they're going to be late to the game that starts at 7 and they can't understand why even though they didn't get on the bus at the Blue Line until 6:15? Hmm?

I would take Irving Park when traveling east at times around night games but Belmont works when going west in the mornings or late mornings on Cub Day games. Also you are walking through a bit safer of an area from Irving to Addison than from Addison to Belmont out west.
Avoid the Addison bus at all costs. From my experience I would avoid it like the plague on any days there are games.

There is also the X80 Irving Park Express bus that stops at Cicero, the Blue Line station and Pulaski. This would shave a little time off the eastbound commute if you can get to one of those stops easily.

In case you need one more person to chime in, definately go Irving. The #77 gets kind of backed up from about Kedzie to the California/Elston intersection on game nights, then again from from Paulina til sheffield. Irving will move a bit faster.

If you lived anywhere close to a Metra station, you could actually take the Milwaukee District North Line from Grayland at Milwaukee and Grace into downtown and another Metra train back out.
