My girlfriend and I will be relocating to Chicago from St. Louis is a couple of weeks. I have a job in Niles. We want to live in the city. We just sold her car, but I’ll be keeping my vehicle. We aren’t sure what neighborhood would be a good fit. We are both in our early 30s, no kids, two dogs. What’s a good neighborhood to own a car. We have a budget of about $1600-$1800 for rent. Looking for a one bedroom. She will look for a job in the city. Thanks for any help

I'm assuming you'll be driving to work? If you are looking for a quiet area, Jefferson Park and Edison Park aren't far from Niles and would be a quick drive to work (maybe 15-20min).

If you're looking for a neighborhood that's a little bit more active, I'd check out Wicker Park, Logan Square, Avondale, and Albany Park areas. It's probably a 30min drive to Niles with some traffic.

I agree, I lived in Jefferson park district '00-02 and never a issue with safety/crime, very quiet family neighborhood

I agree with the above. Norwood Park is also close to Edison Park.
