Skokie Swift is back on weekends -- Travel, Wrigley Field, Chicago Transit Authority -- chicagotribune.com

At least until September. Apparently CTA, barely saved from drowning in the gravity of its own budget, has somehow found enough room to experimentally resume Yellow Line weekend runs from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM, in addition to its usual M-F travel. I'm sure this will be great for people considering the area and Cubs fans like myself. What do you all think?

Yep. Good catch. That one letter means millions to the CTA over 6 months.

The funding for that specific project was received through a federal grant to reduce pollution and congestion. It wasn't the CTA blowing the money the received from the sales tax increase.

I've still never taken the yellow line. Maybe I will now that it's available on the weekends. There's nothing like sitting on train for 1-1/2 hours to get to Old Orchard when the same trip that would take a half hour in a car!

It appears the design for the new Oakton stop will be unveiled and approved soon. Construction will start next year.

Plans under way to add Skokie Swift stop at Oakton, possibly in Evanston too | RedEye | Home (http://redeye.chicagotribune.com/red-081508-skokieswift,0,5442706.story - broken link)

Excellent. It's about time they made that thing a little more useful.

Looking at the proposed additional stops, I'd say yank the one from Asbury (redundant with the Ridge stop) and move it to Crawford.
