Best bars to go to during a Cubs game?
So I've got a friend coming in town and we will probably hit up a Cubs game on Friday however tomorrow I see they are playing as well.So I am thinking about just hanging around in Wriggleyville tomorrow for drinks and food. What are the best places to go to (best crowds, best prices, best atmosphere).
Thanks!

I've always preferred Murhphy's to any other bar in that area for Cubs activities. As for the area itself, some places just aren't for me. Johnny O' Hagans down Clark Street is another good choice.
Though it isn't about me, so you would have to state what you are looking for in atmosphere.

Murphy's fills to the brim with meatheads during home games. I guess there are lots of people who like the "packed sports bar" scene or else they wouldn't pack themselves into sports bars. Personally, I prefer Goose Island Wrigleyville during Cubs games. Nice atmosphere and plenty of elbow room. Well, during the game anyway. After the game it's a free-for-all.

I can tell you two places NOT to go to:
Cubby Bear and Barleycorn. BLEHHH!!
I really don't even attempt to watch games up there unless I'm actually at Wrigley so I guess I'm not much help.

Goose Island is a solid choice.(will have more extensive food and beer menu, and cleanliness) There are several spots immediately around the park that I really don't enjoy before during or after games, but there are many choices to suit all types, especially for a one timer or first timer.
My time is spent there directly before or directly after games. I don't go to Wrigleyville bars during Cubs games. If I'm not at the game, I'm not at the immediate bars there before, during or after the game. I'd rather go at a different time. Murphy's is an old habit of meeting up immediately before and after games before heading into the game or another place. I like being able to be outside easily.
Re-reading the poster's comments, ....as for "during" the game, it would depend on what type of atmosphere that person seeks.

The best bars to go would be anywhere, but around Wrigley. Although I sort of like Yakzies...

I find the bars right around Wrigley after a Cubs' game to be too much. They're packed, loud and it takes about a day to get a drink.
I prefer heading up to Lincoln and Fullerton after the games, with BW3 being my favorite spot. Much less crowded in the area and the city's best wings, that I've had anyway . Unfortunately, they "corporatized" the interior a couple of years ago and turned a really cool bar/restaurant into something you'd expect to see in Oswego. But the wings are still excellent, so we still go. That area of course has a bizillion bars to go to -- Gin Mill, Prost, Red Lion, Lincoln Station, etc.
Sometimes we head southwest to Southport and the Schoolyard Tavern, Southport Lanes and Justin's. Still crowded but not nearly as bad.
Not a fan of the whole "frat boy" thing but if you're going to go to a Cubs' game, may as well do it in style!
