Sone,

Seeing that you're going to be living in LP you would catch the train on Chicago ave and get off at Fullerton which is only 3 short stops away. I I'd say you would be ok.

Also right across from the Chicago Redline stop is the number 36 bus which takes you into LP. depending on where you live you might be able to catch the #36. That's what I did when I lived in LP.

Good luck

I am looking at apartment in the Lincoln Park, Lakeview area, and probably will be traveling on the red line.

In Boston, I feel okay taking the train late at night, but maybe because its my city. I was wondering how the Red line is between 12-1am?

I ask that because even though I will have a car, I wont be able to park anywhere on Michigan Ave, and will have to take the train at night sometimes.. since the restaurant doesnt close untill 12:30am or 11pm I will have to take the train at the Chicago stop up to Lincoln Park.

Is it terribly unsafe?

i'd say the odds are much higher that the only thing you experience is an obnoxious drunk.

The obnoxious drunk will either be homeless or wearing a Michigan State shirt.

Perfect advice. Also, never walk the same way to and from the train every time. Keep some mace in your purse and never walk around talking on your phone without noticing what is going around you. It is an easy way to bring harm to yourself. And as others have said, do not think you can be drunk ,take public transit or walk anywhere and be totally safe ANYWHERE.
