Chicago has terrible weather. There's no escaping this, and I don't think that which is an overwhelmingly majority opinion can be discounted as subjective.
Meanwhile, Americans continue to move out of Southern California (in net)

I'll miss the cold weather, my wife couldn't be happier to see it go. Every day she looks at the forecast and gives me a sad look.

I love the changing of the seasons the most, though.

The flowers here at work are already blooming, some of the trees are also budding. We have grass/flowers/etc from late April until late October, so its roughly 6 months of the year. And out here in the burbs are tons of evergreens, so I get to see green year round, if that counts.

To be honest, I love the look of a fresh snowstorm too. It's just as, if not more so, beautiful to me than any blossomed tree! Now, days later when it's all brown and gross... that I could live without!

...and while I recently visited Southern Cal, and found it quite pleasant, I doubt that I would ever live in such a tropical environment. I would miss the sight of newly-fallen snow too ( grew up in northern VT), and I would get tired of the monotony of SoCal weather (sunshine, yes, but little rain, semi-arid and little variability in temperature). I certainly enjoyed the cultural diversity, but I can get that in my visits to Chicago, too.

California is a beautiful state, especially if you like diversity. From the ocean to the deserts, valleys and mountains. It's unreal there.

I haven't seen any buds on trees, however the grass is getting green. Unfortunately it won't be till mid-year till we have full blown summer. May is the transition month from winter to summer, for me anyways, for what I do and what I prefer to be decent weather.

May I draw attention to the fact that this is roughly the 900th Lake Havasu weather report we've had in the "Chicago weather rant" thread?

Just in case anyone was keeping track.
