^^I've never eaten there but the drunks, bums and panhandlers that hang out in front of the one in Avondale are reason enough to stay away.

Mmmm....Red Apple. YUM.

The panhandlers don't frequent the restauarant. Do you also stay away from businesses on Belmont by the Red Line, or in Wicker Park for the same reason?

^^Look at the crime blotters. Every day there are dispatch calls regarding the mentally ill and drunks threatening people right at that stretch of Milwaukee in front of the Red Apple and around Dunkin Donuts. I was walking around there on one of the hot days we had in early April and two of those guys were throwing glass bottles at people. I have never experienced that in Lakeview.

at the Wheeling location (Milwaukee, south of Dundee), they brought out all the bells and whistles, things they never would have done at the original place which they wanted to keep, well, original.

The Wheeling location is an eye grabber; it could draw people just the way it looks. Neon galore, high slopping ceiling, even the order stands outside shine.

I believe Super Dawg has its own meat grown from a rancher in South Dakota, not going the usual Vienna route.

Oh, well. I have never have seen that when I was over there. Yeah, I've seen the Polish drunks over there, but I've only seen them stumble around, and never in front of Red Apple, but usually near the bars a few blocks down. I guess you were just unlucky, It's a great Polish restaurant, and I have no problem going. You could always stick to Blue Line......

What's a "Northwest Side white guy look"? I don't know weather to laugh or get mad at this.....

And as for Superdawg, I don't see what the hype is for. $8 for a hot dog and fries squeezed in a box. And that "special seasoning" is celery salt.

I can justify it if you just moved to Chicago and never been there, but otherwise....it's just a regular hot dog joint.

Lack of a shoulder bag, carefully scraggly beard and a water bottle.

Good observation. I'd add that he probably wouldn't be sporting: $60 flip flops, skin-tight jeans, and anything from JCrew.
