1957, you are way off base and should probably have your mouth examined by a professional for lack of taste buds. The dog at SuperDawg is actually better. I love the pickled tomatoes. The fries are fresh-cut and delicious. I don't care about the carhops and the dancing hotdogs on the roof. It's the food that separates SuperDawg from the mediocre hoards of Chicago hotdog stands.

In case anyone wants to hear some foodies argue about SuperDawg instead of the know-nothing chumps that post on city-data , here is the most recent SuperDawg thread on LTHforum.

Yeesh! LK, I'm assuming that you're being at least a bit comical since I can't fathom such anger over a hot dog!! If it's really anger, perhaps you should cut the salt from those fries and help your blood pressure.

Speaking of salt, I take foodie opinions with a great big grain of said spice. Foodies are like friends; only a very few true ones. All the rest are just trend following food snob wannabes.

Happy Pride Day to us all, everyone! (even the know-nothings)

Yeah, gentle ribbing can come off as anger on the internet. Sarcasm is hard to convey as well, I've noticed.

I live within walking distance and Mirabel would be my neighborhood hangout bar if they didn't keep such erratic hours. Even their posted hours are a little short for me since they're more restaurant than bar. If you like German food, Mirabel is reputed to be in the top tier of German restaurants in the city. The usual top three are Mirabel, Laschet's and Edelweiss, the order depending on who you ask.

Superdawg is easily the best. Second place is a long way back. People like their local spots, but they need to be realistic. SuperDawg is king.

Seems from this website that Chicago hotdogs frequently have a big pickle in them...
Greasefreak's images of Chicago-style hot dogs

I don't like hotdogs that way, I like a hotdog with onions, tomatoes, and cheese.

I was in the area of Superdawg so I stopped by and tried their hotdog, hamburger, and chocolate malt. I think their hotdogs and hamburgers are overrated and there's nothing specially great about them. But their chocolate malt was awesome tasting but the bad thing is that they give you a half sized cup / small serving for a $4 malt.
