As far as Mt. Greenwood, it is one of 4 areas of Chicago that were deemed the safest (per Sun Times article in 2015). The others being Edison Park, Forest Glen, and one other in the northwest section ( I think it was North Park).

For sure Mt. Greenwood, Edison Park, and Forest Glen are/were heavily police residential areas as is Sauganash. That plays into the safety element I would imagine.

Sprintbox, that far north area that touches the suburbs is the area I would like to get into, if I move INTO the city.

With my 10 years in the jail/courts in social services, I wonder if it would be easy to find a job in the system!

We shall see. I'll keep my eyes open!

Good luck Master Jay. I will eventually move back to the NW side of Chicago as well. I cannot take life in McHenry County.

Sprintbox, talk to me, bro.

What's going on in McHenry County?

Yes, for ME, it's the north/northwest side of Chicago!!!

McHenry County and me....let's just say that you don't walk into a McDonald's and try to order sushi.

It's not just the sheer lack of diversity, it's the utter disdain for anyone who's not part of their good ol boys network. I have been actually told that "we don't like city people and you ethnic types." I'm 2nd generation Italian born in the USA, but that doesn't fly with them out here...lol.

There's a host of other things, but I am very outgoing and miss the interactions with people of all walks of life in Chicago. I could actually get into scintillating conversations with folks. Out here it's all politics and bashing damn near everything that isn't local.

Sprintbox, you're a good dude! Our elders take care of us when we needed them, as youth. One day, there comes a time when we return the kindness. So, I understand!

Well, you are fortunate that you are geographically closer for the occasional ride into the city. From Milwaukee it is not SO bad, but I would like to be closer. I would even consider moving closer to the Wisconsin/Illinois border.

Thanks.

For me, the north/northwest is where I feel a good balance in life.

Sprintbox, I believe you saw my post on: where would be the dividing line to stay away from traffic, as much as possible?

Most seemed to agree with me that ideally it is best to stay north of Montrose... One of our colleagues said it would be even better to be north of Foster Avenue... Hey, in Chicago, ONE MILE difference can be a HUGE difference, as you all know!

But yes, for me, if I were to move into the city, I would use Montrose as my southern border, since I would definitely consider Lincoln Square or Mayfair neighborhoods.
