In what ways, do you think?

Weird creepy characters out and about pretty much 24/7-- gangbangers, dealers, strung-out fiends, stew-bums, prostitutes, mentally ill, and a partridge in a pear tree. And some white-collar professionals too, just to add some spice. There is a huge concentration of social service facilities in that area -- mental homes, halfway houses, SROs, a methadone clinic, etc.

If you do move to Uptown, the only thing you really need to know is to vote AGAINST Ald. schiller when elections come up.

Well hopefully its a nice place. It seemed that way when I checked it out the other day, and it's only a few minutes walk to Buena Park. And based off of what I've been reading on this board, it seems like there is a strong opposition to Alderman Schiller. I'll remember that during election. Any key points anyone would like to share against Schiller, for future reference?

That would depend on how fluent you are at speaking in tongues, communicating with people who have invisible friends, and whether or not you are an avid reader of Streetwise.
The Heart of Uptown is not just a neighborhood - its a TRIP.

The problem with Schiller can be summed up by one thing: Wilson Yard. Look into that debacle, extrapolate it across most of her district, and you'll understand why so many of her constituents hate her guts. In the meantime, I'll give you the summary version if you'd like: she has built her power base around the continued impoverishment of much of Uptown, and she has absolute, unrepentant disdain for any of her constituents who consider this a problem. The sooner all the yuppies leave her district and the sooner it becomes one giant flophouse, the happier she'll be.
