Hey all,

I'm looking for a place to live in west pilsen near the artist district. What websites/resources should I look at? (other than apt people and craigslist?) What are the recommended areas? Near Halsted?

My price range is 600 as its max. Yeah, I know. That's why I'm aiming for Pilsen. It can be sketchy but it's safe enough.

Please let me know!!!!! I need to move out in three weeks!

If you know it is "sketchy but its safe enough" why are you asking what are the recommended areas in it?

Do a search in this forum. Try the Chicago Reader as the poster above mentioned. Go walk and/or drive around there and look for signs in windows.

First of all, I would suggest you look at a map. The Halsted corridor is East Pilsen, not West. You should definitely consider the area between the Ryan and Canal as well.

I don't know what you are going to find for $600.00, but I don't think finding a roomate scenario will be all that difficult because of the number of UIC students that live around there. The UIC website has both rommate ads and apartment ads, and a lot of them are in Pilsen.

Default Drive around

Drive or walk around and look "For Rent" signs. Alot of Pilsen landlords do this. This will give you a good feel of the area and block. Also check out laundry mats, cafe's or local restaurants for flyers advertising rentals. The jumping bean cafe near blue island and 18th st sometimes has advertisments.
