Default 2827 N Burling - The Stanley

Hey everyone. I have searched for this on the forums, but was unable to find it!

I just wanted to get some opinions. I am relocating to Chicago June 1st, and have decided Lincoln Park is the area for me. I'll be moving there alone and living by myself until early 2009 (i'm a 23 year old white female if that helps), when my fiance will be joining me. I currently am still looking for a job in Chicago, but will be volunteering at the zoo and want to be close by.

I found an apartment at 2827 N Burling. It's a studio for $705, all utillities included. The building is named "The Stanley" by the company who owns it - Moore Investment Properties, LLC. From what I can tell the location seems ideal, the apartments are nice, and I feel it's a good deal on an apartment. Does anyone know the company or have experience with them? Or does anyone know the building itself or the immediate area. Unfortunately I won't be able to afford a trip down there before I decide on an apartment and am planning on having a friend check it out for me before I sign a lease. Thank you for any information!

- Mindy

Technically that apartment is in Lake View. But it does not really matter, Lincoln Park is a hundred feet or so away.:-)

It is a great location and that is a pretty good price. I do not know the building itself though. Always remember to keep your guard up even though you are in a pretty good area. No area is perfectly safe in the city. There are not many murders in that area but many hoods like to come to the areas that have money and are well off to rape, rob, and steal. Always pay attention to what is going on around you. But that address is in a "safer" area than most. Getting drunk and walking home is not a good idea anywhere.

As long as you know what it takes to live in a city and take the proper precautions where anything can happen at anytime you should be fine.

Thanks for the response. I actually did know that it is in Lakeview technically...but had forgotten.

I'm not the type to stay out late at night...let alone get drunk. I'm also very aware of my surroundings and I don't do anything stupid when it comes to my safety. It's good to hear that the apartment is in a "safer" neighborhood.

Anyone else?

Parking can be a problem. If you have a car you have to get a neighborhood zone parking sticker for your car and your guests will need guest permits.Otherwise you will be ticketed on a daily basis over there. You will need this permit:
Tom Tunney, 44th Ward Alderman (broken link)
Burling : Diversey to Oakdale- Zone 383
