United Airlines to move operations center to Chicago's Willis Tower -- chicagotribune.com
United Airlines to move operations center to Chicago's Willis Tower
By Julie Johnsson and Hal Dardick | Tribune reporters
August 5, 2009
United Airlines is expected to announce as early as Thursday that it is moving its giant operations center and 2,800 employees from the northwest suburbs to downtown Chicago, sources tell the Tribune.
Good news for Chicago, bummer for Elk Grove Village. Too bad they can't get naming rights. United Tower sounds much better than Willis Tower.

I guess now's as good a time to ask as any. I do not understand TIFs, how they work and how they have been abused to revamp the Sears tower and lure new businesses in. Does United get some of that money for their lease commitment or does it get spent by the building's management?

Maybe we can get them to rename the Sears Tower the United Center and get give back the name Chicago Stadium to the Blackhawks and Bulls.

While we're at it, change the name from O'hare to US Cellular Field (as in airfield), and return the ballpark's name to Comiskey.

I thought we were changing O'Hare to Barack Obama International Airport?
LOL
I'd much rather the Sears be United Tower, atleast United is a Chicago based company.

Or we could change it back to Orchard Field, and change the Macys at Old Orchard back to Fields.
