How Many are still standing? And do people still live there? And have they completely demolished all of the other high rise housing projects in Chicago?

There is at least one on Division and Halstead. Pass by the horrendous sight everyday.

There are five "reds" and three "whites" remaining.
Scheduled for demo by September 2008: The 2 reds (out of 5 total) that they're working on now. 2 of the 3 remaining whites (1230 N. Larrabee & 1230 N. Burling) Scheduled for demo by September 2009: The last 3 reds (412 W. Chicago + 364 & 365 W. Oak) The last white (660 W. Division) |

All of the low rises remain as well.

I believe they're keeping all the low rises.
I've actually been watching the activity on the brown line each day. There's been a LOT going on there the past month or two. They just got done demolishing 3 of the reds, and from what I can see from the L, I only see 2 left. There are also the 3 whites. There hasn't been any activity on the whites for at least a year now. It's nice to hear two more of them will be coming down. With only around 5-6 of those buildings still standing total, it's really amazing how DIFFERENT that area looks from the L. Especially now with the new buildings going up along Division. |

I looked today and there are 3 reds left. I thought it was just two, but I didn't notice the one shoved over by Chicago Ave.
The view from the train has change drastically this year. You can see all the way over to the condos by the river. |
