Hmm... I guess I didn't pay much attention to the relation between the hospital location and the nearest Pink Line stop. OP might be better off living somewhere closer to the Ogden bus route and using that to get to work.

The ride proper between Polk and California-Cermak isn't so bad (5 minutes maybe?). But that walk to and from the hospital down California in lovely North Lawndale could be a whole nother story, especially if we're talking late nights here. That area won't be mistaken for Kenilworth that's for sure. She may well be better off taking an Ogden bus, which would go right to the hospital.

Well, the immediate area isn't hugely awful. Just kind of awful. But the walk from the California L stop and the hospital is a solid 15 minutes. Being on the Ogden bus line would drop her off right in front of the hospital. This is one instance where living west of the Medical district might actually be a better option...

Tri-Taylor would fit that bill and may also be a good choice. If possible stay a few blocks in east of Western. That's the North Lawndale border and some landlords may be inclined to try and call areas west of that "Tri Taylor."
