You don't know what you're talking about.

Chicago Gold Coast Demographics - Neighborhood Demographics
Average age of 35. The majority have never been married. Average income of $94k. Yea, total old folks home.
p.s., Instead of making gross generalizations based on pop culture, try just peeking into the restaurants and shops in the area and you'll see it's all yuppies.

The 60610 area code covers Old Town, River North, and Cabrini Green, with a slice of River West for good measure. The Gold Coast comprises a very small part of 60610, and only portion of the Gold Coast is even in the 60610 ZIP code.
Before you accuse others of not knowing what they're talking about, it's an excellent idea to know what you're talking about.

No **** the zip code isn't confined to just the Gold Coast. If you have more accurate statistics for only the Gold Coast, then please provide them. Until then I haven't heard anything relevant from you.

Come now, let's not pretend relevance is important to you while you try to pass off an area that is clearly not the Gold Coast as the Gold Coast. And don't be hatin' just because you got smacked down.

softdev, odds are good that old folks in the Gold Coast aren't out strolling the streets every day.
especially if they're anything like my retired grandparents were like- they didn't exactly do a lot of moving and shaking in their 80s and 90s, know what I'm saying? Seniors retire to Gold Coast buildings that have doormen & these days can get everything delivered to them. My mom moved into a highrise in Lake View on LSD and doesn't ever walk around to the shops, she's OLD, she doesn't walk anywhere.

Smackdown? Are you 14? And in order to accomplish a "smackdown" you'd actually have to present a logical case and provide some evidence. They probably didn't teach you that in trades school.
In fact, you didn't even make an argument. You just used an extremely obvious statement that 60610 includes more than just the Gold Coast and used that as a "gotcha". That doesn't disprove my statement that the Gold Coast is for yuppies.
If you actually wanted to prove something you would present some evidence that the demographics of the Gold Coast differ from the rest of 60610. But you didn't do that. Instead you just made a fool of yourself with an illogical argument. Better luck next time, son.

Still sore that your false claim got shot down, eh?
That's all right, you'll probably get over it soon. Now run along, your mom's got a fresh batch of tater-tots out of the oven.

In my opinon, all of the neighborhoods I considered moving to are predominantly white including WP, LP, GC, RN, LV. Again, in my opinion, the minorities that do exist tend to stick together, or hang out in cliques. I for one dislike ethnic cliques and refuse to be a part of it. This is something I've seen all throughout my childhood, through high school, college, and to this day it has not changed. It does nothing about learning and understanding different cultures or the human condition. These cliques are created and formed naturally when a minority exists, they tend to embrace characteristics and qualities of their heritage. I understand the need and want to be with people of your own heritage. What I don't embrace is the one sided aspect that i find typical, and the purposefull denial of anyone not a part of that culture. Its almost like a mob mentality and taking a step back in time. So if your a progressive individual of a minority, you might find yourself in disbelief with the narrow minded tendencies of the small group of blacks, asians, indians, etc that do exist in these predominantly white neighborhoods. People, please take this with a grain of salt. This doesnt apply to all, and my point is heavily emphasized regarding the social scene. The OP needs to be aware of what she's getting into. If you do understand, as I did, you need to find your nitch. It's there, just you have to work harder. There is no way around this in which i've learned.
