Like they think it's all just a game.

That's what happens when the hoodrats come downtown. They bring the hood manners with them. Have fun with all that my woke lefties living in and around Downtown

Oh and this happened the other day in my old neighborhood in Albany Park. Thank God I moved out of Chicago. This is not normal.

Surprisingly I'm considering accepting a job offer in downtown. Would be commuting there 3 days every week by walking from Streeterville.

Have a feeling I'm going to regret this.

Streetville to the loop is possibly one of the safest commutes possible. I wouldn’t hesitate to take that gig

There was a time I would have agreed with that. But not anymore!

Yeah, so far, this has been later or in the evenings/weekends.

I guess there is now a curfew and anyone under 18 is not allowed in Millennium Park past 6pm. I'm glad some actions have been taken. They may need to put mounties out there.

Kmanshouse, et al.:

Good morning, You know I love you guys, and I do not want to be a "Debbie Downer."

I mean, they also have laws that people can not have firearms illegally, and it obviously happens. So, are we to believe the curfew will be followed?!?

Switching to a positive attitude, I DO agree that it is SOMEthing to see a "rule" has been IMPLEMENTED. Now, I hope it IS ENFORCED!!!

Yes crime is worse than it was six years ago. A couple of solutions:

- Tough on crime mayor (instead of one who blames the business owners)

- STRONG support for cops (give them power again, stop the second guessing and public humiliation especially in split second decisions, only punish those in cases of extreme negligence or willful misconduct. Would be great to see residents cheer for cops every night like they did for first responders during Covid)

- Countersue families seeking a police settlement and go after them HARD to make a statement (like the Adam Toledo family. Kid was a criminal shooting a gun in the city and got what was coming to him. Cop is a hero too and should be praised. Consider filing charges against the parents for parental negligence).

- Eliminate masks. Especially in summer. They do nothing but provide anonymity to criminals.

Dude, people who want to hide their faces will wear a mask regardless.

I like the rest of your ideas though.

dtcbnd03, SPOT ON, my friend!

It is EXACTLY what I am going through:

I discuss rules, respect, responsibility, culture, etc. with my children.

My ex-wife wants to be the COOL parent to our teens, and let them do whatever.

So guess who the teens reject now? ... ME!

And the school system, the police, the courts do NOT back me up!!!

So all I can do is say, "GOOD LUCK TO YOUR FUTURES/ GOD BLESS YOU, CHILDREN"

...

So YES, rules need to be enforced on the rulebreakers. The Law Enforcement Officers need to be respected and supported.

Have you seen any crime on that route during the day?

I'm concerned about when it starts to get dark early and I'll have to walk home after a long day. Or even when it's early in the morning and dark.
