You've GOTTA love Christmas time in Chicago. Our city really does go all out at Christmas time vs. other cities. Lets look at LA. LOL! What a joke! The put up some lights around the trunks of their palm trees and call that decorating. ugghhh! Take note LA, come and look at our Michigan Avenue and even State Street at Christmas time.

Thats not as bad as Phoenix who has been known to put up Christmas lights around Saguaro cacti. Not only does it look corny as hell, but I wonder how much blood gets drawn during the light stringing festivities. OUCH!

Default Why do I like Chicago

....because of Lake Michigan ( with a great view from Evanston), the reasonable prices, the great restaurants, its orderly steet grid, Wrigleyville and Wrigley Field, both the Cubs and the White Sox, Second City, and most of all..the feeling that there's something for everyone here.

And I'm only a well-travelled visitor.

The various old neighborhood bars around Lincoln Park. Very welcoming, friendly regulars. Chicago blues, and funky old clubs like Kingston Mines. And ah yes, the FOOD. Love Greek Town and The Parthennon.

Things i love about Chicago

The Awesome People

The food (no city in the world including NYC has this many outstanding restaurants both fancy and fast food)

The beautiful neighborhoods(a lot of the neighborhoods are like a different country

The parades(no city does parades better than Chicago)

Chicago maybe the best sports town in america(anybody disagree?)

The museums and culture

The many many parks

The blues

The beaches

Lake Michigan(i love the fact that lake Michigan has no sharks)

The public transportation(i know a lot of people disagree with me on this one)

^^ I agree with you on the public transportation, the el is too good.

-the el
- the buildings! skyline sears tower, etc....
- the rivers and bridges
- the bike riders in bike lanes! how the hell do they do that? and why!?
- the diversity
- downtown itself, from a business point of view, a perfect and large central busines district
- the alleys, otherwise our garbage would be in the streets like NYC! and parking would be 100 times worse
- oak and north ave beach.
- excellent hot dogs and fries and gyros everywhere.
- the radio stations are perfect!hilarious! and they put excellent music and excellent times too.
- magnificent mile and state street.
- architecture , did I say that already? marina towers (just an example)come to mind
- the fact that its one of americas biggest 3 cities=anything thats anything is or comes here.
- jersey boys. best show ive ever been to.
- the redeye and hoy. free daily and good newspapers, the onion.
- the lake
- grant/millenium park
- the bean
-water fountain towers things
- buckingham fountain
- its clean!
- lake shore drive, hands down the most scenic route in america
- the way they wright things with the office lights in the buildings in downtown so you can read it on Lake shore drive, like go cubs or cfd or happy 2008 or a heart for valentines day etc...
- the pavilion in millenium park, damn that sound system is the best ive heard in my life, and Ive heard plenty.
- white castles, even though theres few and far between, but they are so good.
- the festivals
- the fact that its not expoloited in the media like NYC or LA. it makes it personal.
- no new yorkers or californians!
- how its divided by sides, north south and west!
- michael jordan forever
- so many universities
- museums/the aquarium/ and yes, I even love the planetarium
- the 6 way intersections! hahahahhahahaha I really love them
- the women here are gorgoeus!
- gentrification.
- the ethnic areas- chinatown/little village/warsaw/switzerland/humbolt park/black middle class usa
- the word "chicago" .
- we are internationally known
- its flat! easy to walk, easy to drive in winter, no annoying hills, and it doesnt sprawl.
- the view from the sears tower skydeck. you can see all 50 states.
- red and blue line el and so many buses are 24 hrs 7 days a week, I wouldnt ride them at that time, but its nice knowing theyre in motion.
- the metra
- union station in rush hour! human stampede every day!
- obama is from here!
- our mayor for life political machine. democracy? who cares, it works!
- we have 50 alderman, now thats a good number, remind you of something? 50 states!
- chicago is its own state.
- how much we dont care about the suburbs, but how much they care about us! hahahaha poor bastards
- an even amount of divide between races, white/black/hispanic/everyhting else.
-wrigley field, it just looks so amazing right smack in the middle of a residential area. you could really miss it if you dont look up or to your left or right.
- the way the red and blue line run in the middle of the highways
- the way the el is so high up around the medical district
- the gigantic abandoned post office welcoming you to the loop! doesnt the federal governemnt know they have a gigantic post office in prime location? I love it, but do wish it werent abandoned.
- the fact that were the freight hub of america, but you dont see the freights much, we hid them
- the sound of the el rumbling
- lake street under the el, and downtown under the el, and the subway everywhere.
- the skyline by the river in river north
- my favvorite building, pudential two, its the pointy silver one that looks like the empire state but newer.
- the air and water show, those jets fly around the entire city doing the show. now thats a show.
- so many cranes and new highrises going up, well never stop going up
- garret popcorn - cheese and caramel mix.
- the lincoln park zoo, but specifically the conservatory.
