Galewood still has plenty of cops that live in the neighborhood- most cops live in decent neighborhoods

I think police officers are supposed to live in the districts they patrol.
You can't live in Beverly and and patrol Englewood. But then again, things could've changed as the department is constantly going through changes.
So,if they patrol Austin and live in Galewood-that's within their district.

They don't have to live where they patrol. They certainly shouldn't be expected to move every time their patrol assignment changes. And if you had to live where you patrol, there are a lot of neighborhoods that would simply not get patrolled because no cop would live there.

It might just help those neighborhoods if they had to live in them.
The city already has a department that can clean up the aftermath of guts and gore-Streets and Sanitation Dept.

It wouldn't help if you had gaps in the force because few people would be willing to live in certain areas. It's also not practical because it would severely limit the flexibility of the force to shift personnel around from beat to beat as needed.

My proposal doesn't leave it up to the cop to decide.
The police department is just a smaller branch of the military.
The soldiers sure don't have a choice of where they are assigned. You have some that have seniority but not off the top.
They can leave their own families behind and go to another country to patrol there until order is so-called restored.
Of course,I know this wouldn't be an end all solution,as the police departments are severely outnumbered by gangs and other criminals.
But,I don't think it's right to not have some sort of balance.

The police department is not a smaller branch of the military.
The force needs flexibility in assigning officers to various beats as needed. They won't have that if police have to keep moving to whatever beat they're assigned, because a lot of them will just plain quit.
If your proposal were implemented, I promise the number of people willing to serve on the force would drop dramatically. If recent headlines are any indication, the last thing we need is more barriers to attracting quality candidates to the force.

The police department is not a smaller branch of the military.
In a sense they are.You do not need a college degree if you have at least 4 years in the military service,to become a police officer. They all can bear arms. They all are trained to kill or injure. They all put their lives at risk, depending on the assignment.

But like I stated before,I know it isn't the ultimate answer anyhow. The chaos in the world cannot be restored under man's rule. They can't fight influences that can't even be seen with the naked eye. Those would be demons.A higher power has to step in.
