Want to relocate, possibly to Chicago...
I currently live in Arkansas but I want to relocate to another State soon I finish nursing school next year. Chicago is one of the places i'm considering. What are some particular areas of the city I should consider?
I'm a 23 year old male, single and no kids, into bars every now and then but no clubs. I'm into live music of many kinds, watching live sports like baseball, football, and basketball, and i'd love to be in an area with many people around my age. And of course, i'd like to be in an area that is reasonably safe.
Thanks
EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the sticky thread until after I made this post. I'd still like your input though.

Based mostly on your preference for live music, I'd recommend Wicker Park because of the number of indie music venues in Wicker Park (Subterranean, The Note, Double Door) or near it (Empty Bottle in neighboring Ukranian Village, The Hideout and Gallery Caberet in neighboring Bucktown). The bars there don't tend to be "sports bars" per se but a few of them will have games on the TV. One of the better ones for catching games, especially local teams, is Piece. They have a lot of fairly large flat-screens. They also make their own pizza and their own beer, and they do both pretty well.
Alternatively, if you're more into larger concert clubs with more national/international touring acts, then I'd suggest Lakeview, where you'll find the Vic and Metro; just south of there is Park West in Lincoln Park and just north of there is Aragon and Riviera in Uptown. These venues hold anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000.

The Note's not having shows anymore
That place is pretty much the only reason I ever went to WP.

I got an email from MP Shows at the end of April that said they were closing because of the cost of doing business in WP. Then I must have read somewhere ... I can't remember ... maybe it was Chi-Town Daily News, that they are going to reopen as just a bar.
Just went to their web site and this is what came up:
The Flat Iron Chicago
Not cool, not cool.
I saw one of my favorite bands there with only about 40 people in the room.

Great. the Lincoln Parkification of Wicker Park is one step closer to completion. (Lounge Ax anyone?)
