No matter what the Bears really need a QB. I like Leftwich when he is healthy he is awesome but the man has ankles made out of peanut brittle. He broke his ankle in college, broke his ankle Jacksonville, when he was traded to Atlanta to replace Vick he broke his ankle in the first game or two. They better beef up the front line if they bring him in and they really need a strong back up. Cutler would be great but Denver is not stupid. No way the Bears have anyhthing they need that would justify giving up Cutler

What about Kurt Warner?
And yeah the Bears receivers are weak. It would not make much sense to get Warner or any other QB if they cant upgrade the receiver position substantially at this point in time.

Warner wouldn't make sense to me, he's too old. You go for a guy like him when you have almost all the pieces together, and all you need is a good, experienced QB to push you over the hump. Kind of like the Jets did with Favre.
But Jay Cutler is young enough that you could use him to build a team around. Also, you have to get a good quarterback in order to get good receivers. Imagine you are a good free agent WR, and you have the choice of going to the Bears, with no real viable option at QB, or the Chiefs, who have a terrible team, but now a real threat at QB. If I were a receiver, I would definitely choose to go somewhere with a guy that could throw me the ball.

I'm still not convinced Orton isn't a viable option if the pieces are in place around him. He was the 8th ranked QB in the league last year, and maybe could have been 5th or 6th if half his passes hadn't been dropped.

I think Orton is extremely serviceable. He has more of a future than Rex in Effect that is for sure.
He has only played 2 full seasons as the starter and most of one season was as a rookie.

Standards are so low for a Bears quarterback! Why not go for a super star?

I think I'm with Drover. At this point, the Bears can see much better bang for the buck spending money on improving a non-existant receiver corps. Orton showed he can be a capable qb last year, despite few weapons. If they spend the money on a better qb, but don't provide anyone for him to pass to, I doubt we'll see a whole lot of improvement.

It is simple. Sign 1 or 2 of this group: T.J. Houshmandzadeh,Miles Austin,Devery Henderson,Lance Moore.
and 1 or 2 of this group :Marvin Harrison,Amani Toomer,Hank Baskett,Laveranues Coles.
Trade for Anquan Boldin.
Also draft a couple WR's.

Well Housh is gone to Seattle, and as a Cowboys/Saints fan, I can say that Austin, Henderson, and Moore would basically be adding another Devin Hester--all they are is speed, not much else.
However, Harrison would be a great signing. I forgot about him. His numbers have been declining a little, but so would anyone's if they played in the same receiver corps as Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark.
And Jeremy Maclin may still be available by the time the Bears get to pick, but I doubt it.
ESPN predicts that the Bears will pick Sanchez in the first round, which I really hope they don't do. One of these days team will learn not to waste a first round pick on a quarterback.
