The Pack used to play a game or two in Milwaukee every year but that ended in 90s. Now County Stadium's gone and Lambeau has been expanded.

A lot of smaller Midwestern cities had NFL teams way back in the day like Drover mentioned, long before the merger and long before pro football got as big as it is. Moreover, the Packers are the only community owned franchise left in American major professional sports.

That is fascinating, you have to tip your hat off to a fan base like that no matter how sad the colors.

Not true at all. The level of Packer obssession in much of Wisconsin borders on religious fanaticism, and most people have cared more about the Minnesota Vikings more than the Bears for the last decade or so (and the Favre thing will only add fuel to this fire). The closest thing I've seen to Packer fandom anywhere else is Cubs fandom.

Now I care more about the rivalry with the Bears because I've lived in Chicago for many years, and enjoy the trash talking at work and among friends. And I've always been able to find plenty of other Packer fans in Chicago to enjoy the games with. What good is a rivalry without a little back and forth?

I'd make a wager that if you compare the ratio of Avengerfire's Cubs to Sox/Sox fan remarks, they'd be higher than the reverse of any Sox fan on here.

Anyway, Packer fans didn't realize that Jay Cutler was playing chess, not checkers. Get em all excited about their defense early in the season, then WOPZAAM!, pull the chair from under them, throw for 500 yards and 4 touchdowns. Mod Cut

There is no defense for Urlacher Mod Cut

Another great example of the genius planning of the CTA.
The Bears started playing at Soldier Field in 1971.

"The Green Line's Cermak L station was torn down in 1978, a year after being shut to save money."

Interesting strategy. I'm just glad the cameras didn't catch any of this Urlacher action. The image makes me shudder.

I'm just happy the Packers got a win off the Bears this year. I thought the Bears would be the team to beat in the NFC North, so avoiding a sweep is good enough for me. Now I think the Vikings look darn scary, but one game isn't really enough to tell us anything about any of these teams.

Adrian Peterson is the only one that scares me, and I think the 3-4 might be better suited to containing the outside run.

AP's getting his yards and is probably good for a couple touchdowns, so it's just a matter of whether Rodgers and the offense puts together a good game. I'm not ready to hand the division to the Vikings for waiting until the second half to pull away from the likes of Cleveland.
