I would love to see where these advanced metrics you speak of are published and how the numbers are calculated and under what circumstances they are measured.

How long was that FG attempt? 44 yard? I am pretty sure he has made more than a few over 44 yards. But of course I could be wrong.
I thought it was 54 yards, if it was 44, then ya, he has made plenty longer than that. I think convential wisdom agrees with what you are saying, but I've always been more of an advocate of getting the TD first. I think its an interesting debate

It depends how much time is left (and number of time outs left too) in my book. With the time and time outs the Bears had left today I think there was no choice but to go for the field goal.

==============================

Ok, you were right,it was a 54 yard attempt for the FG.

4th-10, SEA36 3:42 R. Gould missed a 54-yard field goal

Seattle at Chicago | Sunday October 17, 2010 | NFL - Yahoo! Sports

===============================

I still think the right call was a FG attempt. There was only 3:42 left with not timeouts.

Our line is embaressing, I dont know how they did not address it in the off season. Its on the coaches for not realizing how bad they would be. They cant get a push in a run situation and they seem to not even give a damn when they are hitting Cutler. In any other team the line would be pulling everyone off the QB while they are hitting him, our guys just stand around.

At the game, believe it or not, in a box seat at the 40 (first time in the new Soldier Field, not too shabby!) - the O line is a disgrace.

Some of our problems are in Cutler's head, but given the pressure, it's hard to fault him for being so frazzled.

What really annoyed the people around me was when Lovie didn't go for that 4th and 1 with ~ 5 minutes left. Down by 10 points, you do NOT have the luxury of playing it safe - you can't count on Hestert saving our bacon all year.

But it was pretty apparent we're nowhere near as good as our record might indicate. Even the defense had some weak spots, although again, they were out on the danged field so often it's hard to blame them.

We need a whole new O line, period.

I truly think we would be a great team with a good O line. It affects everyone. The Defensive is out there much more then they should be, of course the yards are going to pile on. I dont care how good the D is we cant rely on them for everything. It must be sooo frustrating to be in Cutler's shoes. I was never a huge fan of the guy, but I really feel for him.

I know the gays like him though.

Even though I am a straight up heterosexual I really think a huge percentage of women need to shut their mouths with anything having to do with football. It is like straight guys trying to give women fashion advice.

The Jay Cutler experiment is over...TRADE HIM!

PS: Next year I want to see all offensive lineman taken in the draft.
