Originally from po-dunk northern IL, Sox fan since the 90's, will soon be moving to Lakeview.

Seriously, how much trouble am I asking for if I wear a Sox hat on the northside? I'm not talking about going into the Cubby Bear and picking fights or anything, just wearing it around town...

Just curious...

You can expect some harassment, generally from drunk Cub fans, but you won't get jumped or anything

You'll be fine. I've lived on the northside for years, and have publically appeared in a Sox hat before, and haven't gotten a black eye yet

... and no you won't get a black eye if you wear a cubs hat on the southside. I was just on that side of the city yesterday and saw a couple of Cubs hats, and no black eyes.

People make too much of the rivalry, it is mostly good natured.

Yeah, but you are a woman. Besides you dont live on the North Side, you live on the West Side. The West Side is split pretty much 50-50 Cubs-Sox.

Dudes wearing sox hats should expect to get harrassed on the North Side..

There are indeed quite a few Sox fans in my neighborhood, including my neighbors. And I suppose the whole 'being a woman' thing has a fair amount to do with it too, I'll concede you that .... And I guess that I technically live on the west-side, despite what the real estate agents all say.

...okay fine, my post sucked

I have no idea why the agents are calling over there the North Side thats crazy. Not that it makes a difference really, I cant believe how Polish Broadway has changed the last 5 years or so. Its becoming Southport South.

I would never attack a woman wearing a sox hat. In fact, I probably would try to seduce her instead.

You'd probably only have a problem on Game Day, when there are a bunch of drunken idiots from the burbs running around Lakeview. Otherwise you'll be fine.

If you're scared to wear a Sox hat in Lakeview, you've got no business wearing a Sox hat in the first place.
