2016 Olympics in Chicago?
I'm thrilled that Chicago is one of the contenders for the venue of the 2016 Olympics. Being a resident of the Chicagoland, I can't wait to watch the games in person. Are there any downsides to hosting the Olympics here?

The Olympics in Chicago?!?!
Are the Olympics really gonna be in Chicago? and if they are how do you think this will affect the city? Less crime? More gentrification? Will Chicago sell out a little like Atlanta did after the Olympics were there? Do you think this will give Chicago the edge it needs to be better than L.A?

Chicago hasn't been selected yet. I'm sure traffic around those areas is gonna be hell. Less crime? Doubt it. Then again, after the murder at the Taste, I'm sure Daley has some things in motion. When his tourism money is being messed with, that's when he springs into action. Gentrification? Possible. Sorta goes back to Daley. The rush to get certain elements out of the city will go into full effect by that time so its possible. What do you mean when you ask will it sell out?

Like I've heard residents of Atlanta say that after the Olympics Atlanta lost its local charm and that it tries to be more commerical. And by that I mean it loses its culture and just tries to appeal to mainstream society. Think like real touristy areas that have no real cultural significance.

I can agree with this. It's pretty hard to compare midwest cities to west coast cities. I think its basically a prefernce of what you as an individual like.

Chicago is basically the bottom city in the running. I think it might be a long shot

If the Olympics came to Chicago... Chicago would be listed in the 2016 Webster dictionary for the definition of corruption.

Gee, in light of the fact that Chicago is an illegal alien sanctuary who has the nerve to defy DHS (who is now suing Chicago as a result) dumb corrupt IA loving Dickie Daley better unleash some of that corruption to take down Guieterrez, Durbin, Obama and the rest of the corrupt IA huggers in Illinois government. It's going to take at least a decade to get rid of the MS 13/Latin King population. Not to mention for all intents and purposes thanks to Cook County, Illinois is broke as hell. The way that crime is rising all over Chicago, Iraq would be a safer place for the Olympics.
