This is a great thread! I love seeing the diverse architectural styles of our beautiful city - preserving Chicago's historic buildings is vital. I love the architecture of Henry Ives Cobb. Sadly, the Chicago Athletic Association and it's rich history is threatened. Founded by Marshall Field. Cyrus McCormick, A.G. Spalding and others, Wrigley and several other members bought the Cubs in 1905 and took the club's logo for the Cubs.

He was the architect of the Newberry Library and pre-1900 buildings on the campuses of Lake Forest College and the University of Chicago.
These Cobb buildings in Chicago have been demolished:
Potter Palmer Mansion
Owings Building
Boyce Building
Chicago Title and Trust
Hartford Building
Chicago Federal Center
Chicago Opera House
Some have been replaced with new buildings with the same or similar names, while progress is wonderful, seeing some Chicago's rich history go by the way of the wrecking ball really saddens me.
