I've been in Chgo must of my life and it wasn't until recently that I saw a black squirrel. I'm glad that I wasn't "seeing" things.

Apparently, Black Squirrels were released into Humbolt Park this year by the Illinois Park Service. They origionate in Northern Wisconsin. Distributers say that the squirrels will do very well in this climate.I am attempting to verify this information. On Lamoyne and Kedzie there is this really kewl black and brown tiger stripped squirrel that I see about once a week.I also just saw a Racoon in the alley today not far from that location, I hope thay are not releasing them as well.

I just saw a black squirrel in Uptown yesterday. It's the first time I've seen one around here (though I used to see them in Wicker Park occasionally).

we have a single black squirrel we see on my block, pretty cool. we also saw purple martins for the first time ever, I think the improving health of the Chicago River is responsible for that.
