Default how safe this area near?

How safe would it be walking from Clybourn metra station to the Armitage purple line station?

That is not a short walk. It is more than mile. It is not a direct route either since Armitage does not go across the river. You have to go down Armitage until you get to Elston, then go south on Elston to Cortland.Next walk down Cortland past Finkl Steel until you get to Racine then go north to Armitage then walk east on Armitage to the station.

You have to dodge many cars and trucks in this route. It is not very bike friendly nor walk friendly.

It will take at least 20 minutes and during high traffic times even more.

I would not recommend that walk. You will be very lucky not to get hit by a vehicle if you do that walk everyday.

It's about 3/4 of a mile. Just get off the Metra, make your way across the big intersection there to Cortland - then cross the bridge and curve up to the left with traffic. That's Armitage, and you can just follow that a few blocks east.

It's industrial until you get across the river (which is only 2 blocks), then goes to nice residential.

It's fairly safe, it's surrounded by decent areas, even though it's a fairly high traffic/industrial area.

I've walked home from that area up to Webster and over, and it's not too bad. Just don't walk right out into the street and you'll be fine - but I would hope you'd adhear that advice anywhere.

OR, you could just walk down from the station and take the #73 bus east, which will get you there in a matter of minutes. It runs about every 10 minutes.

Not late at night! Unfortunately trendy areas with cool people attract nearby drifters..

hahahahha the Armitage bus runs every 10 minutes????

you're funny!

sorry, I hate that bus with a passion.

anyway, that area b/w Fullerton/Armitage by the metra confuses me to no end... I think it's Clybourn and Elston that screws me up.

Actually it is very close to a mile. Do a mapquest from 2001 N. Ashland to Sheffield and Armitage.

And yes, I have never seen the Armitage bus run every ten minutes. That may be what the CTA has on the schedule at certain times of the day but I have never seen it run on time ever.
