can't wait til the remaining projects are gone
I don't care where the CHA residents go so long as they don't move by me. I have already forcefully evicted (sherriffs with guns) 3 former CHA resident families. Some of the most worthless and useless people I have ever met.
I won't rent to those people going forward unless the govt makes me.
Once the remaing projects are torn down their residents will go to sec8 projects in the less affluent western and southern suburbs like Aurora and Addison.

Most of the ABLA homes have been torn down as well. But they are keeping many non-highrises all over the city. In fact, all of the low-rise Cabrini "townhouse" type apartments are sticking around, so there will be a small pocket of ghetto life on the near North Side for quite a while. The stigma surrounding Cabrini has clearly faded, however. The Dominick's across the street from most of the cream-colored high-rises is packed with Lincoln Park shoppers who don't even think twice about being across the street from Cabrini.

Addison and Aurora Clarification
Addison and Aurora both have very nice parts. There are some parts, however, that are mostly section 8 apartments. West of I-290 in Addison for instance has lots of low-income housing.
I agree that many of these low-rise developments will be around for a long time. I avoid buying into areas that have these developments as I see these areas staying rough for the foreseeable future so long as these developments are around.

Everywhere there has been even the slightest increase in crime is where they've been moved to. Well, as urban legend has it at least.
