Parking ideas?
Hi-
We have family coming for a few days and we don't know where to park their car. We have a parking deck across the street, but it's like $38/night. Does anyone have any ideas? We live on N. St. Clair.
Thanks!

O'hare is cheaper, but not as convenient...
There are handful of garages in the south / west loop that are less than half what the one near you is charging. Amtrak on Clinton is one.

Maybe Grant Park? I know the rates have gone up a lot but still maybe cheaper than where you live. Totally sad, to live downtown and not have parking for visitors.

Yeah the Amtrak lot would be a decent alternative. And if they are coming from the NW, the CTA has two lots at Cumberland and Rosemont (off of River Road) that are $12 day.

Ask a friend in the Gold Coast for a few of their zoned parking permits. The come from their alderman's office and cost almost nothing. Drive down Astor at 6pm when the zoned parking begins. Cars will be pulling out all over so they won't be ticketed. Apply a new permit daily.
I keep a stack of them in my glove compartment.

I usually just drive up to Lakeview, put permits on the car (from friends) and leave it there....just make sure there isn't street cleaning.

I have Guest Permits for Lake View that I may be able to provide. When are they coming? DM me.

Hi-
Thanks for all the replys. They are coming from NC. We just moved here, so I'm not sure how visitor passes work.

You can get visitor parking passes from your alderman. I used this site, City of Chicago , to find mine. The maps are a little hard to read but if you keep Google maps up as a reference you should be able to figure it out.
