Default Parking for the taste

Dear All,

I am thinking of parking my car in one of the above places and taking the subway to the "Taste of Chicago" on Thursday or Friday.

Is parking there safe? Or is it better to drive to the downtown and park say in: East Monroe Garage, Millennium Park Garage, Grant Park South Garage or Grant Park North Garage

Thanks,

Fady

Take CTA in hands down. You don't want to deal with parking and driving downtown if you don't have to. I used to park at the Cumberland station quite a bit and never had a problem. I've parked there at all hours of the day. Then again my car is pretty crappy.

It is cheap to park at Cumberland and Rosemont. I prefer Rosemont, but either choice is fine. If you know your way around well enough you can get off the expressway before you have to pay the toll also.;-) Both stations are in good areas. I would take the CTA for sure.

There is no way I would park downtown.

Default Re: Parking in Rosemont or Cumberland

Before I moved to South Carolina recently, I used to live in between these two stations and parked at them both many times, even overnight. I never had a problem and always felt safe. Cumberland is a parking garage, whereas Rosemont is outdoor and uncovered, if that makes a difference to you.

Either way, it's very safe and a tremendous savings vs. parking downtown. Plus it's always fun to sit on the El and look at those poor suckers stuck in bumper to bumper traffic heading into the city!
