In my eight years living in Chicago (Hyde Park), I never encountered dangerous crazy homeless people. I did encounter a few crazy people, but they had tenure, so I assume they had homes to live in.

In my experience, the crazy homeless people are in San Francisco.

It's harder when you're sitting at an outdoor patio eating dinner, I have now realized. I was looking around to figure out which chair I could easily hit him with if needed to...
