Chicago's gang problem (Roscoe, Humboldt, Royal: live, vs, gangs)

People say Los Angeles is the gang capital in this country and have the worse gang problem, and they say New York is the grimy city. With all the recent gang related shootings & murders in Chicago, do you think Chicago have a worser gang problem than LA & NYC ?

I don't know if we have a worser gang problem than LA or New York, but we do have more gangs than just Bloods and Crips. In fact Chicago, to the best of my knowledge doesn't have Bloods and Crips like LA and New York

On the news, the police said that Chicago have over 100 street gangs, with 70,000 to 100,000 members.

We have Disciples on the south side. We used to have Latin Eagles, Aztecs, Royals and Popes on the north / northwest side. Don't see too much of them anymore. Roscoe Village had a terrible gang problem around 20 years ago and I was told that the police tried to keep the gangs below Belmont. I lived in Roscoe Village for 1 year and left because of gang problems. Rogers Park and Edgewater have numerous gangs affiliated along ethnic lines, mostly anti-Semitic. Humboldt Park used to have a gang called the Insane Unknowns. They used to torch bldgs.

chicago's gang problem is definitely(and that's a big def) bigger than new york's and probably not as big as L.A. CHicago and L.A. gangs are all over the country. The biggest gangs in NY are bloods and crips(L.A. gangs) and Latin Kings(A chicago gang) so there's no way they have a bigger gang problem than us if they don't even have their own gangs.

I don't think Humboldt Park is anti-semitic. A lot of people think I am Jewish based upon my dark hair and pointy nose (I am swiss and german baptist) and I work in banking and have a swiss last name that sounds Jewish. I have never had a problem with anti-semitism or seen it with anyone else.

Humboldt Park is certainly anit-gentrification, particularly with the Puerto Ricans on the eastern side of the park.

There is a significant gang problem in Humboldt Park but generally if you leave them alone they will leave you alone. Still, I wish they did not exist and hope the CPD continues to harrass them and in general flush them out to twart their activities, even if that be just hanging out on street corners.
