Not since I was about four years old and Midway was the busiest airport in the world...

Sold my aunt's house down there when Midway was all but closed. Times sure have changed.

Well, like most people, I want to be as close as possible to the loop. However, on limited incomes, being young, and having a kid, it's kind of hard.

Not that Beverly is terribly far away, but when you're lazy you don't want things to take too long, right?

Oh well, guess I'll cross West Elsdon off the list.

Too much entertainment money has just dried up. Not good...
It's not just based on some freakish funeral procession, but based on the fact that there have now been 3 or 4 murders in Clearing and Garfield Ridge in the last few months when previously there were zero; and also based on what prairiestate said, that it's been sweeping westward for a while now. Just in the last 10 to 15 years, Brighton Park, Marquette Park and Gage Park have all succumbed. And now places that have rarely seen any serious trouble are seeing it happen, and then again a few months later, and then again a few months after that. And that's exactly how it started in the neighborhoods directly to the east not too long ago.

Default change in morale in police?

My sister in laws sisters husband is a Chicago cop.

He and (now I even heard it on the news) claims that the a big reason for the spike this summer has a great deal to do with the new chief of police making poor decisions

in addition to reprimands/scale back on police power do to instances last year: for example the officer beating up the female bartender. Horrible behavior. But he claims (and I seem to believe it) that the good cops (which are most) are getting unfairly treated because of this. Some units even cut because they are "corrupt units." So their is low morale because the police are being treated like children from the higher ups.

I can see this. I mean its one thing to protect your rights as a citizen, but police need the respect and proper powers to do their job.

What do you think?

OMIGAWD. If there is any truth to this then treat 'em like blubbery carp they are and GUT THE STINKERS! It is disgusting. If they don't wanna do the job they ought to retire and go play golf in Vegas or Phoenix with their overpaid overweight buddies. The whole damned forced made efforts to stand behind that stupid barmaid beatin' THUG and it was a disgrace. The shenanigans that they pulled blocking the media from getting to the court house to see that thug arraigned should have resulted in dozens of FIRINGS. The behavior of those idiots with badges is exactly what gives mental midgets like Drew Peterson the idea he can literally get away with murder. Respect my rear. They get paid. They get badges, warrants , Kevlar vests and guns. If they can't keep the punks from blasting awaying at each other and bystanders maybe we need to activate a few National Guard units and prosecute the whinning slackers for IMPERSONATING an law officer...
