Use the maps on the internet. Locate Madison street. Locate Halsted Street. Locate Irving Park Road (3900 north). Move within the boundaries of those streets and (as a RENTER) you will be o.k.

Not to mention those dimensions are laughably restrictive, ruling out Andersonville, Lincoln Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Bridgeport, South Loop, Ukranian Village, West Loop, Hyde Park, Kenwood, Edison Park, Ravenswood, North Center, Roscoe Village, a chunk of Lincoln Park, and half of Lakeview. Basically he's saying "don't look anywhere but River North, Streetverville, Gold Coast, Old Town and Boystown" which is silly.

So very true Drover!!! Totally restrictive. I like a lot of those neighborhoods you named, but couldn't comfortably afford to get everything I wanted in some of those areas plus I am personally opposed to living in a high-rise building. But I definitely would recommend people to look into them because they are great areas taht may work for someone else's needs.

Also, look at where you work and what you plan to do. I work on Madison so I can live North or South and get to work fairly easily (public transportation) but I preferred South of Madison because my friends all live south, I fly out of Midway regularly (15 minutes from my current place) and I drive to Michigan on the weekends - its easier to start south of the city than to drive through to city traffic and start out a 4 hour journey totally frustrated.

Since we have never been there we have no idea where my husbands job is located. We will be there the second week of September and are arriving through the O'hare airport. Was that a bad move??? Should I have gone through Midway? We will be staying right by the airport since there the rates were not as expensive as they are in Downtown. I think we will busy during our four day stay in Chicago looking at everything anything we can possibly get our hands on. I guess we can calculate how far the neighborhoods are from the my husbands job once we figure out exactly where it is located. Is there anyway that I could find out the Neighborhood by giving you his job Zip?

Thanks again! =o)

Yeah give us the Zip Code. It will narrow things down a bit.

If you want to know where it is, just go to Google Maps and put the ZIP code in. ZIP codes downtown are very very compact so your husband's work won't be any more than a few blocks from wherever Google Maps pinpoints the ZIP code.

BTW I happen to be pretty familiar with the area since my school is in the 04 ZIP code.
