My only gripe about Walkscore is that sometimes businesses aren't listed, and one missed business can really drop your score.
They don't have the Davis Theater in Lincoln Square listed, so the "nearest movie theater" is over a mile away. At one point, it did recognize the Davis, so my apartment had a walkscore of 95/100. Now that they don't recognize it, my apartment drops to 88/100.
Small gripe. Neat site.

Having Uptown listed so high in the rankings is also a bit of a joke, since it's really only walkable at certain hours of the day!

A real opportunity for a "mash up"

I wonder if the walk score people can get together with crime data people and come with a "places that you can walk with low risk of crime"...
We could also factor in the "pleasantness of the walk" which would take Clark St across from Chase Tower drop way down due to the screaching Streetwise vendor at the Wendy's entrance and the the Jackson bridge to Union fall do to "can you spare chaaaaaaaange" moans...

Ha!! What a farce, those rankings putting San Francisco number 1.
San Francisco is so hilly, that most people don't even want to walk those hills. Believe me, I've lived there and I know. I used to commute down/up California Street to the Financial District and it's anything but fun walking up.
How does one even walk Russian Hill anyway?

Interesting map.
Seems like even though a city such as San Fran is smaller, a much higher perecntage of the city is very walkable than Chicago. Given Chicagos much bigger size, pretty much its downtown and surrounding neighborhoods and the whole north side (generally east of the north branch.
For NYC Manhattan was a solid green, while Staten Island was mostly red. Makes sense.

And a much higher percentage of L.A. is considered "walkable" despite its "drive everywhere" stereotype.
It would be interesting to see how some other midwest and southern cities look. Not as walkable I'm going to guess.
