Default Eco-Friendly Bars

Has anyone been to one of these eco-friendly bars? What are they like?

"Eco-friendly" bars? What, as opposed to the other bars hell-bent on the crass destruction of the ecosystem or something?

This whole "eco-friendly" movement has become incurably silly.

LMBO

You know, I was thinking the same thing.

Sounds like "Greenwashing" to me. Like the Dell computer with a bamboo case.

Okay, I'm all for actual sustainability, but I honestly sometimes think that this eco-trend will do more to harm real progress than not. Trends are just that, trends, what happens when 'green' is no longer 'cool'? Will there be a backlash?

I think the posts by Drover and Steve-O represent the backlash in it's infant stages. It all starts with irritation.

Its not really irritation, more like bewilderment. Whats an "eco-friendly bar"? A bar that serves drinks out of eco-friendly paper cups? Eww. One that keeps the beer slightly warmer to conserve energy? I just dont get it. Im with Drover on this one, it has become rather silly to an extent.

Well, it's irritation for me. I'm tired of the implication that you're a moral failure if you don't organize every facet of your life around 'eco-consciousness' right down to Sheryl Crow imploring us to only use one TP square per bathroom visit. I'm all for sensible conservation of resources, but much of what passes as eco-consciousness these days is goofy, hollow posturing that won't actually accomplish anything. Even many of the more serious proposals utterly fail to consider resource tradeoffs -- recycling being a prime example.

Remind me never to get near that Crow broad without a spray can of Lysol.
