Hopefully it means there's really good food!

Chicago was the fattest city in 2006 (according to Men's Fitness). Either the whole city went on a diet, the 2007 winners got significantly fatter from a year prior or the whole line-up is based on shoddy stats.

Agreed. Southern cities (particularly Memphis) have a very large obese population. Even in Nashville, where I lived close by. Chicagoland does have tons of obese people, but where doesnt?!?!?! Even "fit" places like Denver and L.A. are overflowing with obesity.

Basically the way Men's Fitness makes this list is shoddy:
Quote:
To compile the report, Men's Fitness spent months pouring over data
that make real people fit or fat, including how much residents are
excising, how healthfully they eat, how much they use gym memberships, how
much junk food they consume, and how much time they spend sitting in
traffic. Men's Fitness also talks to mayors and city parks departments to
learn about local exercise venues, programs designed to get citizens off their couches and moving, and civic leadership.
|
So basically, instead of using actual obesity statistics they instead look at factors they think lead to obesity and conjecture how fat the people probably are there. That just doesn't make any sense.

I'm going to go with that latter.
