Judging from the description and picture of the Detroit dog that I located on Wiki that the OP mentioned, I think that is what he wants.

Yeah I got a "beef" with you.
I only have put ketchup on inferior hot dogs (which I do not eat anymore.)
Thanks for mentioning Portillo's. I forgot to mention that they offer the Chili Dog.

I love puns Av.
Speaking of hot-dogs the best I can find down here are Boars Head all beef in natural casings. They're VERY good, as good as Viennas and are much better than Hebrew Nationals which are pretty much the standard "good" hot-dog, due to their national availability. HNs are better than Oscar Meyers but that ain't sayin' much.

I actually prefer Hot Dogs without natural casings.
I think Hebrew National is much better than Oscar Meyer.
I think Best's Kosher and Sinai Kosher are better than Hebrew National however.
But my number one is Vienna. David Berg (when you can find it is up there too.)
I have not eaten a hot dog that was not pure beef for about 7 years. Oh wait, I fogot about that nasty Hot Dog I ate in May at Miller Park in Milwaukee! Ick!
...and no I am not Jewish...
Can you not buy Vienna in a grocery store in Lexington?

I dunno about that. I stopped by Jim's last night and STILL had a hangover in the morning.
Speaking of hangover cures, does anybody know a good late night place to get menudo, preferably on the west side?
The place I used to go with my buddies many moons ago (Nuevo Leon) stopped doing the late night thing.

Nah, no Viennas down here, neither in the stores or at stands. I'm told there are a couple of hot-dog stands with Viennas over in Louisville, a little over an hour away.
Boars Head makes all beef dogs without casings too. In taste and texture Boars Head are very similar to a Chicago hot-dog.
When I was a kid I used to go to a stand at Madison and Pine that had a brand called Palestine 48s or something like that. Very good. A hot-dog and fries cost a quarter,
I used to buy those Daisy dogs at the butcher shop once in awhile too. There was a tavern in Forest Park on Madison called Richard's that had excellent thuringer sandwiches; wonder if it's still there?

No Vienna beef in Charlotte, either. (hot dogs or the Italian beef) Have to import it on my trips to the city. Get a big box of both at Sam's club, then, once I am here in Charlotte, I divide it up into individual freezer bags so I can savour them for a long time to come....
however, no poppyseed buns here, either.
