Default Chicago air show - how to get there?

Coming from Iowa and want to know the best way to get down to the air show tomorrow. I don't want to pay $50 to park if I dont have to. What's the fastest way? I was considering parking at ohare and catching the blue line downtown. Any ideas??

Well it depends where you are going to watch the show from. I assume North Ave beach?

It depends what part of Iowa you are coming from and what highway you will come in on also.

If you are coming from Iowa I would take one of the Metra Lines. Some of the stations in the burbs have parking lots where you can park your car very cheaply or for free.

They even havesome non-stop trains from some stations to downtown for the show.

Wow thank you! The direct Metra sounds great. What is the best place to watch do you think? Also, how would I get from Ogilvie station to north beach? Bus? Train?

I'll come in on I-90 from rockford, or maybe Hwy 30 so would take UP-W or MD-W.

Walk two blocks south down Canal to the (Amtrak) Union station at Adams and take the 151 Sheridan bus to North Avenue. You can buy a CTA farecard in Union Station.
Metra Ticket Concourse
Visitor Pass Vending Machine
Open daily 5am - 12:30am

OR

Walk east on Washington to the Washington EL stop. Get on the Brown Line. (It only goes in one direction around the Loop) Get off at Sedgwick. Walk North to North Ave then walk East to North Avenue.

The Metra train offers a $5 unlimited one weekend pass. It will save you money. Buy it on the train if there is no attendent; otherwise buy it at the ticket office where you get on the train.
