Right, That's what I thought. Somebody needs to move below the Mason-Dixon Line.

Yes, that is why I live in Charlotte and not Chicago anymore. I also do not like it when it goes below 80.

I wouldn't mind a few more 80 degree days this year. We did have 90 (or close anyway) on Tuesday, though.
Yesterday was icky.

I kind of like days like yesterday. We needed the rain too:
Gustav's remnants bring Chicago area more than 3 inches of rain -- chicagotribune.com

Gustav's blustery remnants lived up to the advance billing Thursday, dousing the Chicago area with its heaviest official rain in more than five years. By evening, preliminary totals at the Whitney Young High School Weather Bug sensor had reached 4.12 inches with rain still falling. Other reports included 4.06 inches at Justice, 3.76 inches at Palatine, 3.67 inches at Wilmette, 3.62 inches at Orland Park and 3.51 inches at Lake Zurich. A rainfall of 4.50 inches hit Downstate at London Mills -- located between Peoria and the Mississippi River. It marked the first time in three years that the remnants of a landfalling Gulf Coast hurricane reached Chicago. Hurricane's Rita's remnants were the last to occur here in 2005.

We only had three months of decent weather in a year?

The average high this time of year is still around 80, so I would expect that we will definitely see 80 again. It was just 94 degrees a few days ago, and then we had the remains of Gustav come through with rain/wind/cooler weather.
It's just a random weather pattern, I don't think fall arrived THAT quick, like...in 3 days.
I imagine we'd see 80 again. September is normally in the 70's to 80 degrees anyway. I'd wait until October 1st before I started asking if 80 will stick around.

Last year we had 80's deep into fall. (I think it was 81 on Oct 21) Also wasn't it 90 when the Chicago Marathon was cancelled last year?

Well, you should move to South Florida, because Charlotte gets a whole crapload of days below 80 in a years span.

I'd say the city has six months of good weather - MAy through October. April is decent in the burbs. November is tolerable. When my kids were little my litmus test for going to the park was - is it 50 degrees or higher? (55 if its cloudy or windy) Then we go.

The marathon was cancelled halfway through. Some people stopped. Others kept going.
