Default Is $900 Too Much for Auburn Gresham Area?

I have been in contact with someone who currently resides in Auburn Gresham, and would like to rent out her condo for $900 a month. It is 2 bedroom, 1 bath, with an assigned parking space. I wanted to know if that is too much for that area? I have read previous posts about the area and that it is a so-so neighborhood but getting slightly better with regentrefication.

Thanks

You'll be just fine, a good part of the area is solidly middle class. I'm in the area, just off 87th and the Ryan. If the condo is modern (open layout new appliances) I think it's a fair deal.

You could have put this post under your initial Auburn Gresham post. It cuts clutter on the boards.

Sorry about that, I didn't think about it and I did not receive any replies on my Auburn Gresham post.

I am going to view it on Thursday, while I am in town, so I have't seen it yet, but she did say that the it has all new appliances and she is having an electrician come in to get an estimate about upgrading the heating system, since she informed the apartment currently has water-based heat, which she does not like.

Sometimes people are not on here. It is not like we are paid to post on this site. Just have patience and give it some time and people will respond most of the time.

Seems a little steep for the area, but not outrageously so if it's newer and/or recently rehabbed and spacious. I'd shop around a bit to see if I could do better. At that price you could certainly find something in a higher quality neighborhood.

I am confused on this. You said this is a condo?

Yes it is a condo and according to her, her buidling will allow her to get electric base boarding heat, so long as it does not interfere with the rest of the buildings base-water heat. I should have been clearer in my other post.

Drover,
I am going to look at the area on Thursday, but she did state on the phone that it has all new appliances and is in a building that has been recently rehabbed. I will definitely shop around.

One of my interviews is in Joliet, so I am also in contact with people in that area, as well as posting stuff on the suburbs part of this forum for answers on the Joliet and surrounding suburb areas.
