Forbes named Chicago America's most stressful city.

America's Most Stressful Cities - Forbes.com (http://www.forbes.com/health/2008/09/15/stress-cities-ten-forbeslife-cx_md_0915cities.html - broken link)

I've lived here for 15-16 years and while I do find it stressful I don't know that I would say it is the MOST stressful city?

These lists are getting more stupid each time. What a joke. The "methodology" is so loose, and the media attention given to them is always overblown.

it seems that way to me. a lot of the people carry around a heavy disposition and struggle to smile. it is very stressful having to work/live/deal with so many people that are so careless (day after day going the wrong way on a one way street for good parking especially at train stations, carelessly littering, not caring about other people etc.) It causes stress for the good people out there who strive for a better tomorrow. but chicago, like a lot of cities, has a lot of careless people who just don't care about themselves let alone other people like they should. i think it is america's most stressful city but we mine as well just call America the most stressful country on Earth. I think that would be a better determination.

Rust-belt cities Detroit and Cleveland have high rates of unemployment due to the decline of the American auto industry, and they have nasty pollution problems as a result of it. On the upside, the flight from these cities has meant a fall in home prices, which is good for prospective, if only a few, home buyers.
Don't those two sentences point out the stupidity of this list? Sure Detroit faces high crime, pollution, and extreme unemployment. But since no one wants to live there, the home prices are cheap, which moves it down the list of "stressful places".

If I had a bad mustache and called myself John Stossel, I'd say, "Give me a break."

Forbes and their lists...lol.

They once called Raleigh the best place to live in the US if I'm not mistaken. I will use that as exhibit A as to how they use BS to sell magazines.

Chicago is definitely not America's most stresfull city. New York is infinitely more stressful in about 100 ways. And they would probably pride themselves on that fact! Quirky neuroses are a source of pride in New York.

That's a joke. Maybe it's just because I lived in a congested, polluted, crime-ridden city in Central America, but Chicago is beautiful and I find the people here very friendly. We have the lake, lots of parks and green areas, tons to do for fun, beautiful architecture, world-class restaurants, etc. Maybe whoever wrote that list has some sort of underlying envy, or grudge against Chi-town.
